Paint Inspector

CHANCE Recruitment is looking for an experienced Painting QC Inspector to support a major energy project based at Point Of Ayr, Talacre.

This is a site-based opportunity for an experienced coatings and painting inspector with a strong background in Oil & Gas environments. You'll play a key role in ensuring coating and painting activities are carried out in accordance with the relevant codes, standards, project specifications, Quality Control Plans and Inspection Test Plans.

Working closely with the wider quality team and site operations, you'll provide hands-on inspection and quality control across coating and painting activities, from surface preparation and atmospheric condition checks through to film thickness, adhesion and final visual inspections.

With an 8-month full-time contractor engagement, Outside IR35 status and an immediate start, this is an opportunity for an experienced Painting QC Inspector to join a major project at Point Of Ayr.

Your role

As Painting QC Inspector, you'll be responsible for carrying out inspections and quality control activities across coating and painting operations, ensuring work is completed in accordance with project requirements, relevant standards and approved procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Executing inspections on materials, equipment and construction/installation activities in accordance with the Quality Control Plan and relevant inspection procedures.
• Issuing the appropriate Quality Records and maintaining accurate inspection documentation.
• Raising and submitting non-conformance reports where required, including through PTS software where applicable.
• Verifying the correct storage and certification of materials.
• Checking instrumentation and calibration certificates.
• Witnessing and performing coating process qualifications.
• Inspecting surface preparation prior to coating and painting activities.
• Checking and recording atmospheric conditions before painting operations begin.
• Carrying out wet and dry film thickness checks.
• Monitoring coating and painting cycles to ensure they are being applied correctly.
• Monitoring wet film thickness.
• Verifying correct colour coding and painting.
• Performing visual inspections throughout the coating and painting process.
• Carrying out adhesion testing.
• Performing penetration testing.
• Evaluating impact testing.
• Performing visual checks before blasting.
• Performing visual checks following blasting.

You'll need to combine strong technical knowledge with a practical, site-based approach, ensuring quality requirements are understood, inspected and properly documented throughout the work.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced QC Inspector with proven expertise in coatings and painting inspection activities, ideally within the Oil & Gas industry.

You'll need:

• Proven hands-on experience in coating and painting inspection.
• Previous experience working as a Painting or Coating QC Inspector within an Oil & Gas environment.
• Strong knowledge of coating processes, inspection requirements and defect identification.
• A thorough understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Control Plans and project specifications.
• Experience carrying out surface preparation, atmospheric condition, wet and dry film thickness and visual inspections.
• Experience with coating inspection testing, including adhesion, penetration and impact testing.
• NACE or FROSIO Level 2 certification.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate quality records.
• The ability to identify, document and communicate non-conformances effectively.

We're particularly interested in inspectors who bring strong practical coating and painting experience alongside the technical knowledge required to maintain quality standards on a complex project site.
