Civil Engineer

CHANCE Recruitment is looking for an experienced Civil Work Engineer to join a major Oil & Gas and Energy project based at Point Of Ayr (Talacre).

This is a site-based opportunity for a Civil Engineer with proven experience delivering civil engineering activities across complex Oil & Gas or Energy projects. Working under the guidance of the Civil and Structural Lead, you'll be responsible for technical design, verification and checking activities, while coordinating with project specialists and designers to ensure engineering work meets quality, budget and programme requirements.

You'll work across civil works, buildings, foundations, concrete structures, drainage and plumbing systems, while also supporting BIM coordination and field engineering activities on site.

With a 6-month contract outside IR35, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Civil Work Engineer to contribute to a major energy project in North Wales.

Your role

As Civil Work Engineer, you'll support the Civil and Structural Lead across the delivery, checking and coordination of civil engineering activities throughout the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring assigned project goals are achieved while meeting quality and contractual requirements.
• Preparing detailed Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for civil works and buildings.
• Preparing Material Take-Offs (MTO) for steel structures using 3D modelling tools.
• Preparing technical annexes and documentation to support the subcontracting of engineering activities.
• Developing drainage and wastewater systems, including drain water and sewage layouts.
• Developing plumbing system layouts within buildings.
• Carrying out studies for foundations and concrete structures.
• Performing quality checks on discipline project documentation, including vendor documentation.
• Verifying structural BIM models in line with OpenBIM updated best practices, project requirements, required information levels and planned BIM uses.
• Supervising and approving engineering designs and construction drawings relating to foundations, concrete structures and buildings.
• Carrying out discipline engineering follow-up activities.
• Providing field engineering support at site.
• Coordinating with Project Specialists and Designers to ensure engineering activities remain aligned with project requirements, budget and schedule.

You'll need to combine strong civil engineering knowledge with an understanding of BIM, design coordination and the practical requirements of delivering engineering work within an Oil & Gas or Energy project environment.

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced Civil Work Engineer with a proven background in Oil & Gas and Energy projects.

You'll need:

• Proven experience working as a Civil Work Engineer on Oil & Gas or Energy projects.
• A BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Experience with civil engineering design, foundations, concrete structures and buildings.
• Strong understanding of Eurocode.
• Experience preparing BOQs and MTOs for civil and structural works.
• Knowledge of BIM coordination and structural model verification.
• A BIM Coordinator certification.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of project quality requirements and technical documentation.
• The ability to coordinate effectively with project specialists, designers, vendors and other engineering disciplines.

Technical & IT skills

You'll be proficient in Office 365, particularly Excel, and have experience using relevant civil engineering and 3D modelling software, including:

• Mat 3D
• Foundation 3D
• SP3D
• Navisworks

You'll also need a good working knowledge of Eurocode and OpenBIM principles.
